These are some of the notable projects I have been involved in since my freshmen year.
Hunter Drone
Project Leader
Overview
The aim of this project was to develop a drone platform with the ability to track a prey drone with a certain degree of autonomy and having the capability of neutralizing it. The system utilizes a pneumatic net gun as the weapon alongside a 2-Axis gimbal system tracking the malicious drone. With on-board image recognition, the system detects, tracks and catches undesirables.
FDM 3D Printers
Personal Project
Overview
I have been deeply involved with 3D printing for more than 5 years. Not only have I been around many printers, cheap and expensive, I have developed and built several of my own. While my time in BAE Systems I have designed and manufactured parts intended for FDM prnting. I also have considerable knowledge on the material properties of the manufactured parts and materials.
CNC Milling Gantry
Project Leader
Overview
Design and manufacturing of a CNC gantry complete with a milling bit. A classic XYZ sheet cutting machine with everything made from the ground up.
VTOL Aircraft R&D
Personal Project
Overview
Design and manufacturing of a tilt-wing vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Researched and applied sandwich composite airframes for extreme lightness since motors have to bear the entire weight of the plane, omitting the wings as lifting surfaces while takeoff and landing.
Wind Tunnel Modernization
Project Leader
Overview
Designing and building a new model mount with 3 axis of freedom for the university's wind tunnel. This mount is better engineered and had much less drag than the previous one. This is important for the pressure data aft of the model.
Autonomous Cargo Plane
Project Leader
Overview
Designing, building and operating a fully autonomous from the ground up. This 4kg, 1.8m wingspan UAV can drop 2 400g of payload while taking off, cruising and landing autonomously. 3-year running project that as a team thought meus much about aerodynamics, electronics, coding and manufacturing techniques. The project eventually became an award winner at the UAVTurkey International UAV competition.
